This manual, developed by the Sisterhood Is Global Institute, is aimed at assisting women to identify and respond to violence and abuse on a local/grass roots, national and international level. The principles underlying the model for the manual are explained and a background to violence against women in Muslim and other communities is provided. In Part Three a series of case studies taken from the experiences of women from a range of backgrounds are used to illustrate the various forms of violence, including honour killings, forced child labour and spousal abuse. Workshop exercises and questions for discussion are provided for each case study. Part 4 discusses the international movement against violence and the Appendices contain descriptions of a range of programs, legal and social policy reforms which have been undertaken internationally.
