Notes:	General Overview: This book from the United States of America is a compendium of articles addressing domestic violence against older people. It include a chapter on the difficulty of finding alternative housing for older women experiencing domestic violence. The majority of articles address abuse by institutional caregivers. Discussion: The book contains a selection of short articles originally published in the publication Victimization of the Elderly and Disabled:. Part 1 centres on the prevalence and types of abuse experienced by older adults. Chapter 4 in this section, ‘Domestic Violence in Later Life’, includes five articles addressing the dynamics of family abuse of older people, housing obstacles, implications of service providers and the criminal justice system response. The authors call for the reform of system that fails to provide older victims with safety and support, a range of housing options for older victims including shelters appropriate for older women and training for domestic violence workers, aging services workers and criminal justice professionals. Part 2 of the book details violence against specific populations, such as patients in long term care facilities and discusses working with perpetrators to prevent further violence. Part 3 discusses issues around sexual abuse, special considerations when working with disabled adults and international perspectives and approaches. Part 4 looks at professional development, policies and best practice and Part 5 focuses on legal responses to abuse of vulnerable adults.
