Authors: | Aboriginal Affairs Victoria Indigenous Family Violence Partnership Forum |
Year: | 2008 |
Publisher: | Aboriginal Affairs Victoria |
Notes: | Written by the Indigenous Family Violence Partnership Forum, a body comprised of Indigenous community representatives from the 10 Victorian regions, Indigenous organisations and government representatives, this 10-year plan was produced in response to growing concern over the level of violence in Victoria's Indigenous communities. Its objectives are to guide, inform and direct joint efforts of the Indigenous community and government to reduce Indigenous family violence. The plan discusses the impacts of family violence and outlines the nine guiding principles and the seven values for preventing and eliminating family violence. It also provides an overview of the structure, roles and functions of the Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Groups, and summarises the national and state strategies to combat Indigenous family violence, highlighting the Victorian Integrated Family Violence Reform Strategy, which operates within the wider Victorian Government and community partnership policy framework. There are also numerous case studies to illustrate the objectives and achievements of the strategy. |
