Notes:  This is a selection of seventeen readings compiled by the Working Group of the Same Sex Domestic Violence (SSDV) Interagency Project in NSW with the view to informing service providers about SSDV issues. The book is divided into four sections: Gay and Lesbian; HIV; Young Gay Men; and Lesbian. Within these sections there is a range of topics, including: personal stories; how to identify same sex domestic violence; identification of the perpetrator in same-sex situations; barriers in acknowledging abuse; statistics on SSDV; the role of homophobia (both internal and external) and heterosexism in maintaining silence; legal help; what to do when children are present; services available; relevant web sites; and discussion of service provider and police issues that are barriers to victims of SSDV receiving assistance. Also included is research on gay men and DV, theoretical frameworks, models for healthy relationships, HIV/AIDS, DV policy for lesbian and gay immigrants, indigenous lesbians and interagency responses to SSDV.
