Notes:	Many people in the Australian community are unaware of the obstacles women face when they try to end a violent relationship. In a recent nationwide survey on community attitudes to violence against women, 80% of participants said 'it is hard to understand why women remain in violent relationships'. Half of all participants said that most women could leave if they wanted to (Australian Institute of Criminology, The Social Research Centre & VicHealth 2009, p. 48). This Fast Facts explores key factors affecting women's decisions to end violent relationships.
