"Partnerships Against Domestic Violence Summary Findings From Phase 1"
"For Professionals"
This fact sheet has been developed for people working in contact services. It summaries the major facts and information on: the impact of domestic and family violence on children; men who use violence in family relationships; incidence of domestic violence; and what contact services can do. Based on the learnings of Partnerships Against Domestic Violence, principles for service delivery could include: validation of the experience of women and children and the ongoing impact of this on their lives; provision of opportunities for healing; acceptance of children’s fears and anxieties as real; intervention when ‘change-over’ and supervised visits perpetuate or intensify this fear and anxiety; and collaboration with women’s and children’s services to provide a support network.
