Title: Alcohol consumption by domestically violent men increases likelihood of physical abuse of female partners [press release]
Authors: Research Institute on Addictions
Keywords: Statistics;Drug and alcohol misuse;Perpetrators
Year: 2003
Publisher: Research Institute on Addictions (RIA), Buffalo
Notes:

Discusses the findings of a recent [US] study which revealed men who are predisposed to intimate partner violence are significantly more likely to commit violent acts when under the influence of alcohol than when they are sober. Alcohol consumption also appeared to increase the risk of recurrence of physical violence. While the findings are arguably compelling, it is noted that alcohol is only one of many contributing factors in violent relationships.
