This Factsheet 2 forms part of a series of 4 legal fact sheets that together give information on domestic violence restraining orders in the Northern Territory. Factsheet 2 – ‘Now that you have a restraining order’ – summarises what happens when the applicant has a restraining order; duration of order (when the order starts and how long it lasts); what to do if the defendant breaks the order; and having an order if living together. It also explains how an applicant can change or stop (revoke) the order. Key Northern Territory contact numbers for the crisis line (for counselling or for information about crisis accommodation, sexual assault services, legal advice); contact numbers for legal advice or advocacy services, and domestic violence counselling are also listed.
