Information about the perceptions of personal safety, the decisions to report crime incidents and views of the criminal justice system is also yielded by the survey. This paper describes the practical aspects of the design, organisation and estimation methods of the Australian component of the 2000 International Crime Victims Survey. The report is divided in 12 sections that include the population covered, offence categories, the questionnaire, the sample design, the selection of households and respondents, survey operations, data collection procedures, the processing of the data, estimation procedures, and a comparison to the national Crime and Safety Survey. |
