This information package attempts to develop a conceptual framework for assessing and further developing information on sexual assault by locating national data needs, prioritising those needs, identifying current data sources and developing strategies improving them and/or developing new ones. Chapters 1 and 2 explain the scope and conceptual framework for the research, while chapters 3, 4 and 5 look at the specific elements of context, risk and incident. Responses to sexual assault, its impact and the outcome of various intervention strategies are addressed in chapters 6 and 7 and chapter 8 examines how education and prevention strategies can tie into the other elements of the framework. The priority information needs identified in the course of the research are summarised in the final chapter and conclusions with respect to a range of issues, including programme and service planning and evaluation are drawn.
