Notes:	"May 2004" Describes the range of ‘Indigenous justice practices’ emerging in Indigenous communities, such as Indigenous urban courts and circle sentencing practices. Differences in the approaches taken by various States are highlighted through an examination of the NSW Circle Sentencing Court and the South Australian Nunga Court. Other programmes developing in remote areas of Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, NSW and the Northern Territory are also mentioned and some of the implications of these developments are considered. The distinction between Indigenous justice practices and therapeutic or restorative justice is highlighted and the key factors that set them apart, such as the emphasis of the former on communication between judicial officers, offenders and other parties, are explained.
