Notes:  Reports the methodology and findings of a study aimed at mapping the incidence of reported domestic violence in Brisbane using police call and court data and discusses the utility of examining the spatial patterns of disadvantage from a social justice perspective. Suggests that the data from each geographical area are correlated with the Index of Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage but that as a way of establishing whether or not relative disadvantage is a predictor of domestic violence, the IRSED is inadequate. Argues the future welfare of Australian families requires us to address the question of how we might apply social justice principles in making assessments of the impact of domestic violence on families in various economic positions.
