Notes:  Describes the research design and findings of a US study aimed at assessing how the Experimental Social Innovation and Dissemination (ESID) Model might be used to reduce intimate partner violence against women, through the provision of trained advocates to women leaving abuse relationships. The effectiveness of the intervention is assessed and some of the limitations in sampling and other areas are noted. Argues the ESID model provides a practical model for developing and evaluating community interventions with victims of violence and reflects principles considered central to community psychology and advocacy.
