Notes:  This article presents the US study examining the influence of domestic violence batterer treatment on the recidivism rate of domestic violence offenders and demographic characteristics associated with recidivism. The sample size consisted of 248 male domestic violence offenders already sentenced. Findings indicate that treatment does not affect recidivism. The number of treatment sessions attended was an important factor in predicting domestic violence recidivism in the treatment group, and successful completion of all treatment sessions reduced the likelihood of domestic violence rearrest and reconviction. A literature review is included.
