Notes:  Outlines the methodology and results of a US research study designed to pilot the use of the Abuse Disability Questionnaire (ADQ). Conceptualising partner abuse as a potential catalyst for the development of a disabling and/or impairing psychological perspective, rather than merely the cause of a particular type of trauma, the ADQ was developed to assess the range of negative consequences that exist in a person’s life and their associations with the experience of partner abuse. Suggests the ADQ was able to demonstrate construct and criterion validity, internal consistency and test-retest reliability and hence represents a viable alternative to other modes of conceptualising and measuring the negative consequences of partner abuse.
