Notes:  This article discusses the insufficient attention on service provision provided to the children of men who participate in domestic violence perpetrator programs and on subsequent outcomes for those children. Alderson et al analyse research from a UK study which investigated what a positive result for children of these programs might look like.

A significant limitation of existing research is the absence of the children’s perspectives on the situation; however further research is currently underway. The article states that men’s lack of disclosure to the children about their participation in perpetrator programs reduces their level of accountability for their actions and jeopardises the relationship between father and child. Recommendations are then made for stakeholders and funding bodies for further research and targeted service provision.
