Notes: | Reflects on the findings of a research project undertaken by the NSW Women’s Refuge Resource Centre aimed at identifying, documenting and promoting the range of service models adopted by women’s refuges across NSW in assisting women and children escaping violence. Suggests that, despite the ongoing efforts of these organisations, many victims of violence still face a crisis in housing and accommodation options upon leaving the relationship, and many are forced to return to their abuser for fear of becoming homeless. Other obstacles faced by victims of abuse in finding secure housing, such as rental blacklists and bad credit ratings, are also highlighted. |
