Notes:	Special issue title 'Out of the fire: domestic violence and homelessness' Also published as DVIRC Newsletter Autumn Edition, February 2001 Outlines the findings and conclusions of the first national research project to look specifically at the link between domestic and family violence and women’s homelessness. Victims and service providers were consulted in urban and regional areas across Australia. Emphasises the need to consider the range of factors which may impact when assessing a woman’s risk of becoming homeless, including social supports, access to employment, education, planning of departure, nature and availability of intermediate accommodation, effectiveness and enforcement of legal mechanisms, absence of suitable and affordable housing options and whether or not the victims belongs to a minority group. Concludes by arguing that the more negative factors impacting, the more likely the women and children will subsequently become homeless or return to abusive situations and that one way of preventing this would be to enable the woman to remain in her own home without the perpetrator of the violence
