Outlines the background to the Port Lincoln Domestic Violence Rapid Response Program, an initiative designed to make it easier for domestic violence victims to remain in their homes, through the installation of personal alarm systems. Provides some of the reasons why Port Lincoln was chosen as the trial area. Describes the role and aims of the programme and lists some of the positive feedback and general comments that have been received regarding the project. Argues that although the programme is not ideal for all rural communities, it has increased the safety and security of domestic violence victims in Port Lincoln and relieved pressure on local sources of emergency accommodation.
