Describes the role of the Emergency Accommodation Support Enterprise (EASE) arguing the biggest challenge this community managed organisation faces today is a lack of safe, stable and secure accommodation for women and children escaping domestic violence. Suggests a link between sub-standard crisis accommodation, child protection intervention and the likelihood of returning to the abusive relationship. Questions the priorities of a government which will allow victims of trauma and abuse to sleep in a caravan park or on the street, highlighting the increasing demand for and decreasing resources invested into crisis services. Contends that by failing to adequately resource such services, the system continues a cycle of violence and abuse that began in the home.
