Notes:	Special issue title 'Out of the fire: domestic violence and homelessness' Also published as DVIRC Newsletter Autumn Edition, February 2001 Outlines the background to and aims of the Women’s Safety Strategy, an initiative of the Victorian government aimed at improving women’s safety and reducing fear and levels of violence against women. Part of the project focuses on ways of ensuring women and children are able to remain in the family home following domestic violence. Argues that the Women’s Safety Strategy is unique in that it supports a ‘whole-of-government’ response to violence against women and outlines the various ways in which the agencies and departments involved will coordinate their efforts to achieve this. States the priorities of the strategy, including the provision of opportunities for community consultation and feedback.
