Provides an overview of 'domestic stalking' i.e. stalking which occurs in the context of domestic violence, when a woman tries to leave an abusive relationship. Discusses the current situation of stalking in the ACT, including assessment of the legislation (Crimes (Amendment) Bill 1996), police beliefs/action and legal ramifications. Provides recommendations to make law user friendly which involves educating/informing police of how legislation works and the specific nature of domestic stalking, as well as recognising and dealing with gaps in the legislation.
