Notes:  This US longitudinal study analysed the relationship between adolescent males in violent social networks and young adult males who perpetrate intimate partner violence (IPV). Data was also collected on the participants’ number of friendships to contextualise the nature of the peer network. This research illustrates that young men in larger peer groups, involved in a comparable level of violence to that of small-to-medium sized peer groups, are more likely to perpetrate IPV. The authors suggest that school-centred interventions focusing on violent behaviour in adolescent males can decrease the risk of their perpetration of IPV as young adults.
