Notes: | Examines the impact of a pilot welfare programme developed in Minnesota, USA on victims of domestic violence in both rural and urban areas. The programme targeted long-term welfare recipients, specifically single mothers. Results of the study reveal that while the programme produced increased levels of employment and income amongst rural and urban single mothers and decreased overall reported levels of violence, the benefits of the pilot were experienced most often by those who did not have a history of abuse. Suggests these findings support the development of more specifically targeted reforms. |
