Notes:  This article describes a group programme called the Peek-A-Boo Club, which is for mothers and infants who have experienced domestic violence, based at the Royal Children’s Hospital Mental Health Service in Victoria. The programme’s premise is that exposure to domestic violence and the need to survive can preclude a mother’s ability to focus on her infant’s attachment needs. The focus of the group programme is to positively change the infant’s developmental pathway and the infant/mother relationship through healthy attachments, addressing the impact of intimate violence, and enabling mothers to become empowered. There is an initial home visit assessment session which includes the use of a questionnaire, the Parent-Infant Attachment Scale. A minimum of 8 sessions (1 to 2 individual assessments, 6 weekly sessions and a reunion) is involved.
