Notes: | Discusses the methodology and findings of a qualitative British study that examined women’s responses to domestic violence and how understanding these responses might contribute to more effective policy, prevention and intervention strategies. The focus of the Scottish study was on what women do when they are exposed to violence, the interactive context within which these responses take place and the broader socio-economic structures that influence women’s choices and actions. Suggests the study demonstrates the complexity of strategies of resistance employed by women and the importance of awareness, amongst social workers, with respect to this diversity. |
