Notes: | Describes the technique utilised for conducting a meta-analysis of existing research into exposure to domestic violence and its impact on children’s emotional and behavioural health. A developmental psychopathology framework was adopted to draw the research together and guide the analysis, which emphasised the interaction of a range of family, social and cultural factors. The authors argue that a synthesis of the relevant literature leads to the conclusion that children exposed to domestic violence are more likely to suffer poor mental/emotional health than those who are not exposed to violence. Some suggestions for future research are also made. |
