Notes: | Discusses the processes through which the Duluth model of an integrated approach to domestic violence has been developed and adapted to the local context in Australia. Key mechanisms for creating bridges between organisations to meet the demands of an integrated criminal justice response are examined. The principles involved include: the utilisation of basic community development principles, incorporating ‘ownership’ of the programme being developed and cooperation rather than competitiveness and fault-finding; a process of experimentation and evaluation, with each new aspect of the programme initiated through small pilot projects; independent evaluation, focussing on agency co-operations and, controversially, agency needs, rather than survivors’ experiences. |
