Notes:  Outlines the methodology and results of a US study aimed at determining the extent to which a positive screening of domestic violence in an inner-city emergency department could reliably predict the occurrence of future violence in the relationship. The results indicate women who screened positive for domestic violence were eleven times more likely to experience subsequent violence by a current or past partner over the next four months than those with a negative screening. The need for interventions targeted at this high-risk group of women is highlighted.
