Notes:  Overview: This US paper provides an introduction to basic concepts of family violence prevention from a public health perspective. The public health approach is defined as one which emphasises primary prevention and working with community partners to develop a coordinated response to violence.

The paper discusses examples of family violence prevention strategies and introduces a planning tool that can be used to develop more comprehensive prevention initiatives. The paper concludes with an overview of a national partnership between public health and domestic violence coalitions.
