Notes: | Reviews recent literature on domestic violence and welfare, noting the growing trend in the US towards perceiving welfare benefits as a privilege rather than an entitlement. Several areas of existing research are summarised and critiqued, including domestic violence prevalence studies amongst welfare recipients, studies focusing on the relationship between domestic violence and un/employment or domestic violence and physical/mental health and research aimed at evaluating existing programmes and policies. Identifies questions and areas of concern which emerge from the existing data and advocates for the integration and coordination of welfare and domestic violence services and increased communication and cooperation between service providers. |
