Notes:  This article reports on findings from a Dutch study into adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). The study relied on a sample of children whose mothers had been abused by an intimate partner. The study comprised 208 children who had been referred to mental health and other welfare institutions after experiencing or witnessing intimate partner violence (IPV). The study concluded that these children were at high risk for emotional and behavioural problems.
