Notes: | Outlines the methodology and results of a research project aimed at evaluating the differential effects of three levels of intervention – brief, counselling and outreach, with pregnant, physically abused American Hispanic women. Reviews recent research conducted into intimate partner violence during pregnancy and discusses the population under study in terms of service use and success of intervention strategies utilised. Argues the results of this and other projects suggest a need for greater emphasis on the development and evaluation of community based outreach services within women’s health services and the incorporation of routine abuse assessment for pregnant women into pre-natal care. |
