Notes:  Describes the methodology and findings of a US study that examined the impact of batterer intervention programmes on subsequent batterer behaviour, utilising a propensity score analysis technique. The study involved a fifteen-month follow-up and the results, unlike previous experimental research, suggest batterer programmes do have a moderate effect on perpetrator behaviour. Some of the benefits of propensity score analysis are highlighted and the some implications of the study for perpetrator programmes and intervention strategies are identified.
