Notes: | Explores connections between domestic violence and child abuse, specifically in relation to Asian families living in the UK. Reports on study of 93 child protection files involving 32 families, the majority from non-English speaking backgrounds. Opposing themes regarding the ways in which social workers and other child protection professionals evade issues of domestic violence emerged from this research; avoidance and minimisation of issues of domestic violence as opposed to confrontation, and using serious intervention strategies. Highlights the complexity for workers of confronting child abuse in the context of domestic violence. |
