Notes: | Presents the methodology and results of a US study aimed at exploring the reasons battered mothers physically abuse their children. An overview of research into the incidence of battered women perpetrating abuse against their children and the key risk factors associated with this phenomenon is also provided. Findings suggest that battered mothers who are abused as children or whose parental and social support networks are weaker are more likely to abuse their own children than women with strong family relationships. |
