Notes:	Light provides an overview of domestic violence in Australia starting with a personal account of her own childhood in a home where her father was physically and psychologically abusive to both her mother and her sisters. Australian statistics on the incidence and prevalence of domestic violence are supplied and myths about domestic violence are addressed. The stories of several other women who suffered domestic violence are presented as well as contributions from Christine Nixon, chief commissioner of Victoria Police; Rosemary Calder, formerly first assistant secretary of the Office of the Status of Women; and Jim Toohey, CEO of TriCare, who initiated workplace changes to deal with employees’ domestic violence situations.
