Notes:	Provides an overview of the current research and knowledge relating to the incidence, nature, prevalence and risk factors associated with elder abuse and neglect before presenting the findings of an analysis of a series of case studies collected by the author over an 18-month period working as a social work practitioner in the UK. Key risk factors identified by the study included social isolation and/or dependent status of the victim. Specific emphasis is placed on the role of gender in elder abuse, the relationship between victim and abuser and the need for intervention strategies to address power imbalances and the multiple forms of abuse experienced by victims.
