Notes:	Questions the value of using a psychological framework in the context of supporting women who have experienced sexual violence. More specifically it focuses on the harm that can be caused to women in the groupwork context when pathologising therapeutic approaches and psychological discourses are used. The article suggests that groupwork with women in the context of a powerful and growing individualization of a serious and historically pervasive and persistent problem of sexual violence against women, can act to further humiliate and subjugate women beyond the experiences that they have already encountered through the violence itself. As an antidote to the dangerous potential that many psychological discourses hold for decontextualising and minimising the importance of social and political strategies for change, the article suggests that group workers need to actively seek out women’s opinions on all levels of their experiences relating to violence and attempt to allow these insights to influence the design of the groupwork intervention itself.
