Notes:	Part of a series of occasional pamphlets produced in the UK covering key practice, policy and research issues arising in the area of family violence, this booklet provides an overview of research into children’s experiences of domestic violence and its impact on children’s behavioural, emotional and cognitive well-being, drawing attention to the role of race, ethnicity and other factors in influencing children’s resilience to the negative consequences of exposure to violence. Issues that arise for children in the post-separation period and the negotiation of safe child contact arrangements are discussed and studies that have sought to obtain children’s perspectives on violence, both as they have experienced and more generally, are reviewed. The paper concludes by considering a range of strategies for addressing the impact of domestic violence on children.
