Notes:	Journal of the DVRC Inc. Highlights some of the contradictions which have arisen from recent changes to child protection legislation in Canada, requiring that domestic abuse of women be regarded as a form of child abuse. Suggests that the legislation lacks uniformity with family law legislation, has a tendency to limit, rather than support, women’s choices in violent relationships and places professionals working with abused women in a ‘double bind’. Although various initiatives have been undertaken to address these concerns, it is argued that there remains a lack of recognition of the needs of women and the complexity of abusive relationships within legislative, judicial and welfare bodies.
