Notes:  Outlines the development of the Gold Coast Domestic Violence Integrated Response, including the achievements and challenges involved. The rationale for the development of this integrated response is that an effective multi-agency approach should provide consistent and co-ordinated responses aimed at enhancing victims’ safety, reducing secondary victimisation and holding perpetrators accountable. Outlines three programmes which operate within the framework of the Integrated Response: the Fax Back Project, incorporating all 9 police stations on the Gold Coast, which aims to provide immediate follow-up support to victims of violence; the Court Assistance Program including processes for tracking of domestic violence matters, from police call-out to court outcomes; and the Mandated Men’s Program, conducted by the Domestic Violence Service and Community Corrections. Overviews some of the barriers that can stall multi-agency approaches and points out that each community must find an approach with ‘fits’.
