Notes:  This brief article provides a summary of the issues raised by submissions to a 2009 Australian Senate Inquiry to improve access to justice, including an aspect focused on the ability of Indigenous people to access justice. The authors examine the issues for Indigenous women with a particular focus on their ability to access legal services to issues with domestic and family violence. Several significant systemic issues, barriers to service and service gaps are identified and discussed.
