Notes:  This article describes Counterpoint Young Women’s Refuge which began in 1994 when Anglicare took over what was then Zelda’s Women’s Refuge in North Fitzroy, Victoria. Counterpoint provides short-term, crisis accommodation to 18 - 25-year-old women who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. Its five permanent staff and additional attached specialist workers take a holistic approach to the health and well-being of the residents and seek to empower the young women to attain their full potential. Workers also advocate for the young women to reduce the potential for their further marginalisation. Connelly describes her involvement in the ‘Family and Domestic Violence Crisis Protection Framework” forums which seek to streamline the response and improve the relationship between the SAAP Services and Community Care Services within the Department of Human Services. She also looks at the issue of transgender clients at Counterpoint and how it may be addressed and discusses future plans for Counterpoint.
