Notes: | Reviews some of the literature demonstrating the links between animal abuse, other forms of family violence and factors influencing women’s decision to stay in violent relationships, highlighting evidence that domestic violence rarely occurs in isolation. Then goes on to discuss the approach taken by a Colorado women’s shelter to addressing some of these issues. A background to the Crossroads Safehouse and the incidence of domestic violence in the community is provided and some of the initial concerns raised by the project coordinators are identified. An overview of how the programme operates and how it has been received thus far is then presented. |
