Notes:	Sets out the various phases of a US study aimed at establishing a psychometrically sound measure of intimate partner abuse in young adults and facilitating the development of more effective intervention and prevention strategies. Items utilised by existing measures were combined with the items identified by a sample of college students to create a ‘higher order model’ that takes account of a range of physical and psychological abuse factors and potential precipitating causes. Limitations of the study and directions for future research are also addressed.
