Notes: | The American Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (US) requires states to develop and impose regulations obliging adults who have accessed two consecutive years of welfare to acquire and sustain employment. In addition, a lifetime limit of five years of welfare was introduced. This article reports on the effect of these changes on women who experience domestic violence, includes issues such as transportation, child care and their ability to maintain employment. |
