Notes:  This article reports on a qualitative Australian study of a sample of 8 refugees from Iraq, Ethiopia, Sudan, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia conducted in collaboration with the Immigrant Women’s Domestic Violence Service (IWDVS) in Victoria. Its aims were to:
* Explore the connection between domestic violence, gender, previous trauma, and changed culture, identity and social and economic circumstances
* Identify contextual factors affecting refugee families at the individual, group and structural levels
* Ascertain the support needs of refugee families and to review the training requirements of service providers working with these families
