Notes:  Review of this comprehensive book which brings together contributions by leading international researchers and practitioners on the issue of children who experience adult domestic violence. Each chapter begins with a brief review of the research before moving to identify both future research directions and policy implications. The book is divided into three sections. The first, ‘Understanding Children’s Exposure to Domestic violence’, explores the underpinning knowledge about the impact on children of exposure to domestic violence. It covers the methodological, conceptual and practical issues involved in establishing the prevalence of children’s exposure to domestic violence; the longer-term effects on children, drawing primarily on a trauma perspective; the concept of resiliency; the co-occurrence of child maltreatment and domestic violence; and the ethics of research on children’s exposure to domestic violence. The second section explores the role of families and social support. The final section focuses on prevention initiatives and their evaluation.
