Notes:  Provides an overview of the rationale, goals and methodology of a project aimed at exploring the impact of gambling and family violence on Vietnamese families in a Melbourne community and identifying appropriate models for preventing and/or responding to these issues. Both gambling and non-gambling specific services participated in the project and the findings indicate both direct and indirect links between gambling and some form of family violence. The impact of gambling on children and the use of gambling by victims as an ‘escape’ are also discussed. The report concludes with a series of recommendations for the development of services, resources and prevention strategies in this area.
